Carbon Fiber 1970 Charger with 1500 hp

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Blazin Rodz set out to build a unique 1970 Dodge Charger that would challenge their skills. After many hours of work and a lot of carbon fiber they titled the creation “Sangria”.

The heart of project is one of the first Direct Connection 1500 crate motor created by DSR Performance. The supercharged 426 ci (7.0L) Hemi V8 is capable of 1500 hp and 1000 lb-ft of torque on E85 fuel.

The motor features a BGE iron block featuring a 4.10-inch bore and 4.05-inch stroke. In that is an Ultra billet steel crank, Ultra I-beam rods, billet aluminum pistons, and custom camshaft. On top are ported 356 aluminum heads, upgraded valvetrain, and Whipple Gen 5 3.0 L Stage 2 supercharger. E85 fuel is fed from 1700 cc injectors by an Aeromotive 3.5 GPM brushless pump in a Roadster Shop tank.

Behind the monster Hemi motor is a Stage 2 ZF 8HP eight-speed automatic transmission built by Pure Drivetrain Solutions. A Drive Line Pro carbon fiber driveshafts sends the motor’s four-digit power to an independent 9-inch rear end.

Blazin Rodz supports everything with a Roadster Shop Fast Track IRS chassis. It uses their Elite series control arms, SV by Fox fixed valve coilovers, and custom Woodward Racing steering rack. They also went with Brembo six-piston calipers with carbon-ceramic rotors to help control the power.

The Charger’s body is made from carbon fiber covered in House of Kolor’s KK-03 Wild Cherry. The translucent paint allows the composite weave to show. Inside the wheel wells are a set of custom Kompression wheels (20×9, 21×14) with Pirelli tires (255/30, 335/25).
