2004 Mustang with a 5.0L Coyote V8
Late Model Restoration (LMR) started Project Keeping Comp in 2021 when the company purchased an employee’s previously-owned 2004 Mustang GT (New Edge) in need of restoration. LMR retained the factory 4.6 L 2v V8 and TR-3650 five-speed manual transmission but focused on new body panels, paint, interior, and Cobra brakes. Several years later the team decided to swap the 4.6 L V8 for a 2nd-generation 5.0 L Coyote V8. On the Coyote motor LMR installed oil pump gears, crankshaft sprocket, Power by the Hour accessory kit, SVE swap shorty headers, Moroso swap oil pan, SVE billet steel flywheel, and RAM HDX clutch. LMR has articles explaining basic Coyote swap info and Coyote swap costs. The conversion resulted in the Mustang going from 242 hp (177 kW) and 274 lb-ft (371 Nm) of torque to 385 hp (283 kW) and 362 lb-ft (490 Nm) of torque. Watch the work required to swap a Coyote V8 into a 2004 Mustang GT.
