The Crawat Files – The Lady In Red – by Mike Crawat

Published in Stanceworks.com

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the Porsche 911 is undoubtedly the "quintessential sports car." Everything about it speaks to its enthusiast-driven nature. Porsche, as a brand, still prides itself as perhaps the most enthusiast-centric marque in the world, and we'd be hard pressed to disagree. With the aircooled 911 variants dominating the classic european market, the aftermarket for such cars has grown, as has enthusiasts' quests to stylize, personalize, and make these incredible machines their own. It's the same story for this beautiful example, including the gorgeous hue of red: ultimately fitting for the truest sports car of them all.

Undoubtedly, there are folks shaking their head at a 911 on air suspension. "Ruined!" rings out from the distance. The good news is, we're all free to enjoy what we want, and the owner of this Porsche 964 has chosen to embrace its aesthetic beauty, and paired it with a custom built set of 18" BBS RS wheels, fully polished with gold hardware and matching red and gold caps. Yellow calipers play perfectly off the golden hardware, creating an incredible showpiece overall.

The wheel and tire package is executed to perfection, with the fitment dialed in right to the fender's edge: not for the faint of heart. With air suspension on tap though, drivability returns in an instant, bringing this aircooled classic right back to collector status.

This one is yet another gem from Mike Crawat's photo archives. Keep an eye out for what comes next: an M50 Turbo Bavaria.
