A Pro-touring member has decided his next project will be figuring out how to stuff a 360 horsepower V8 from an Audi S5 in the back of a 1958 Porsche 356. A swap such as this has a new sense of relevance now that VW just recently purchased Porsche. Current plans are to run stock FSI, ECU, gauges, and keys because of the difficulty running the S5 engine without them. Since there is no aftermarket ECU for this engine in stock form, if the engine can not be run using stock components the owner plans on replacing injectors and ECU with an aftermarket system. The transaxle has been swapped from the Quattro one to a 01X six speed. A custom chassis will be designed in Solidworks to hold the billet A-arms, airbags, and disc brakes on each corner. The body has been purchased and is on its way to Hong Kong to start work on the swap. We can’t wait to see the progress pictures.
