Ridetech’s Fox Body Mustang with a 427 ci V8

Published in engineswapdepot.com

In 2024 Ridetech built a 1985 Mustang to showoff their suspension parts on the autocross and track. The heart of the project was a 358 ci (5.8L) Roush Yates RY45 V8 built by SPEC Racing Engines. Unfortunately the motor was damaged last year and the company decided against repairing it. Ridetech switched to a Blueprint Engines’ PSF4271RCT 427 ci V8. The motor features a cast iron block with 4.00-inch stroke and 4.125-inch bore. It uses a forged crank, forged rods, forged pistons, and a hydraulic roller camshaft. On top are aluminum heads with 205 cc intake and 70 cc exhaust runners. Ridetech decided to carry over the Engler stack injection system and Ultimate longtube exhaust headers. Both needed modifications to fit the Windsor-based motor. The rest of the car remained the same and you can read the details in our previous article. Ridetech’s first showcase of the new motor was a Holley Ford Festival where the team achieved 3rd place in the Vintage Grand Champion class. The car also ran a 12.951 sec at 112.1 mph on their first and only quarter-mile pass.
