Camaro Race Car with Twin-Charged Diesel V6

Scott Birdsall from Chuckles Garage drove the a special Camaro at Pikes Peak 2026. The project started with a Chevrolet Camaro TA2 race car used in Trans Am Series. The Camaro TA2 is typically powered by a LS3 V8. However this Camaro is now powered by a twin-charged 3.0 L VM Motori diesel V6 pushed far back in the engine bay. The motor produces 600 hp (441 kW) thanks to a turbocharger and supercharger. Behind the motor is an Albans six-speed sequential transmission. The Camaro retains the TA2 tubular chassis, suspension, and brakes. Unfortunately Scott had to restart several times due to multiple red flags. This resulted in raised coolant temps and eventually blown head gasket. Even with those issues Scott missed the record by 0.5 seconds. Scott plans to return next year with more power.
