Ferrari 458 Test Mule with a 6.3L V12

Published in engineswapdepot.com

RM Sotheby’s auctioned a 2012 Ferrari LaFerrari prototype. Ferrari built the test mule called “M6” between February-April 2012 for development of the LaFerrari. The listing states the test mule started as a Ferrari 458 Italia but with no indication if it had the factory 4.5 L F136 F V8 and seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle or if it was a body in white (BIW). Either way Ferrari modified the aluminum chassis to fit a 6.3 L F140 EB V12 which was used in the Ferrari FF. The LaFerrari would be built with the 6.3 L F140 FE V12. RM Sotheby’s says the M6 test mule also was used in development of the LaFerrari suspension, steering, and brakes.
