Mustang with a Turbo Barra Goes 8.4 sec

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Chris Porter from Jackstand Barra built a fifth-generation Ford Mustang (S197) for drag racing. The car is now powered by a turbocharged 4.0 L Ford Barra inline-six. It features forged rods and pistons, Kelford 218B camshafts, Forced Performance 7875 turbocharger, and Fueltech FT550 ECU. The motor made 825 hp (615 kW) and 920 lb-ft (1247 Nm) of torque. Backing the Barra is a Circle D converter and Hughes Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. From there power is sent to a Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.50 ratio. Chris’ personal best is 8.44 sec at 160.9 mph. However he is hoping for the 7’s with new upgrades including a Pulsar 7685 turbocharger, 6Boost Promod exhaust manifold, and bigger oil sump.
