
BMW 1 Series with a 992 hp N57 Turbodiesel Inline-Six Goes 8.72 sec

AS Performance continues to develop their BMW 1 Series (E81) with a 3.0 L N57 turbodiesel inline-six. In our previous article the motor made 825 hp (615 kW) and 1419 Nm (1046 lb-ft) of torque on 4.9 bar (71 psi) of boost and only diesel fuel. When the team added the nitrous, the motor made 992 hp (729 kW) and 1672 Nm (1233 lb-ft) of torque. That four-digit torque is applied to four slicks through a ZF 6HP six-speed automatic transmission and X-Drive AWD drivetrain. The combo resulted in the blue hatchback going 8.72 sec at 255 km/h (158 mph). Watch the dyno and quarter-mile run in the videos below.
