AWD Toyota GR86 with a Turbo Inline-Three
Toyota Gazoo Racing wanted to celebrate the Celica GT-Four ST185 rally car after learning of the possible return of the World Rally Championship (WRC) to the USA. They tasked Evasive Motorsports with transforming a 2024 Toyota GR86 into the GR86 Rally Legacy Concept.
In the engine bay Evasive Motorsports swapped the turbocharged 1.6 L G16E-GTS inline-three and six-speed manual transmission from a GR Corolla. The motor features an GReddy intercooler, GReddy oil cooler, “race” ECU, and custom straight exhaust. It produces a factory-level 300 hp (220 kW) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque.
Evasive Motorsports needed to modified the chassis and fabricate a custom front subframe and mounts to fit the taller and traverse powertrain. They also installed the GR Corolla rear differential with modified GR Corolla axles.
The car’s front suspension also uses GR Corolla hubs, spindles, axles, and front disc brakes. That was paired with custom control arms and the GR86 steering rack. The rear retained the GR86 disc brakes. Evasive Motorsport installed a set of custom AST adjustable coilovers with remote reservoirs on each corner.
The exterior features the classic red and green livery inspired by the Celica GT-Four ST185 rally car. Up front you find the rally light pods and in the back a Celica GT-FOUR-style spoiler and rear bumper exit exhaust. Big red mudflaps keep debris coming off the Speedline 18-inch wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 235/40 tires.
Evasive Motorsports keep the interior race focused. You find two Sparco racing seats with six-point harnesses. In front of that is a Motec digital display and Sparco steering wheel. The driver and co-driver are protected by a full roll cage and fire suppression system.
