1972 Skyline with a RB25DE

JDM Legends imported this 1972 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-X from Japan in the early days of the company’s life. After it sold the lucky owner eventually asked JDM Legends to swap the motor and upgrade the handling.

The car originally came with a carbureted 2.0 L L20A inline-six but the owner wanted more reliability and a different sound. JDM Legends installed a naturally aspirated 2.5 L RB25DE NEO inline-six from a Nissan R34 Skyline 25GT FOUR. They also installed a RB25DET five-speed manual transmission with a Spec clutch.

The RB25 motor received a N1 oil pump, Splitfire ignition coils, modified RB20 finned valve covers, and Fujitsubo stainless steel header and exhaust. The intake uses aluminum velocity stacks leading to RB26DETT individual throttle bodies with a custom adapter plate.

The fuel system received a Holley Hydramat in-tank sending unit and 255 lph pump. Custom aluminum lines with AN fittings channel fuel to RB26DETT injectors. A Haltech Platinum Pro standalone ECU controls the motor with a Wiring Specialties wiring harness.

JDM Legend created a custom suspension setup using Techno Toy Tuning parts. It features adjustable front camber plates, Cusco front strut brace, and Rubber Soul adjustable rear spring perches. It rides on Eibach springs and Koni shocks. JDM Legends upgraded the front brakes using MK63 four-piston calipers and slotted rotors.

On the outside JDM Legends installed GT-R-style spoilers and over-fenders. Under the over-fenders are Volk Racing TE37v wheels (15×9.5 -20, 15×10 -25) with Falken Zeix tires (205/50, 225/50). They re-plated the factory bumpers, grill, and headlight bezels.
