Published in engineswapdepot.com

Matt Sixberry loves building unique vehicles at his company Sideways Fab & Customs in Loveland, Colorado. In 2021 he set out to build a 2009 Nissan 370Z for drifting. Since then it’s turned into a one mean machine thanks to Matt’s hard work.

In 2022 Matt wanted more power than the factory 3.7 L VQ37 V6 was producing. So the swapped to a 8.3 L V10 from a third-generation Dodge Viper. The V10 features a LSx 102 mm DBW throttle body, IGN-1a ignition coils, and runs on a MS3pro Ultimate ECU. It produces 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. Matt fabricating a custom front-sump oil pan, equal-length headers, and 4-inch oval exhaust. He also moved the radiator and battery to the back of the car.

Behind the V10 is a T56 six-speed manual transmission. A custom one-piece driveshaft by Northern Colorado Driveline sends power to a welded 370Z differential. Currently the rear end uses a 4.30 ratio but Matt plans on swapping to a 3.357 ratio. Factory 370Z axles with FDF spacers turn the rear wheels.

To help the car drift Matt installed a FDF Mega Mantis angle kit with BC Racing BR series adjustable coilovers. The 370Z still retains the factory Akebono disc brakes with a single rear caliper using a pass-through hydraulic handbrake.

On the outside Matt installed an Amuse body kit complemented by a set of SSR Formula Aero wheels (19×9, 19×11.5). The hood and fenders are made from carbon fiber helping reduce some front weight.

Matt pilots the 370Z from the comfort of NGR Prisma seats protected by a FD-spec roll cage. Behind that is a custom firewall and tubes feeding cold air to the radiator in the trunk. Matt also installed LRB Speed
metal door panels and relocated the shifter.
