1956 International Harvester Truck with a Toyota Turbo Diesel Inline-Four

CJ Panila built his 1956 International Harvester S-110 truck to be a daily driver. In the Philippines it is difficult to find Chevy, Ford, and International parts and when you do they are expensive. So CJ turned to the abundant and cheap Toyota parts to update his truck.

The truck’s factory frame was rusty and worn out so CJ replaced it with a 1996 Toyota HiAce Granvia chassis. He also kept the Granvia’s powertrain, suspension, brakes, power steering, and electric system.

The truck originally came with a carbureted 3.6 L SD-220 inline-six but is now powered by a turbocharged 3.0 L Toyota 1KZ-TE diesel inline-four. The Toyota motor features indirect injection and delivers more power and better fuel economy. CJ chose to keep the Toyota four-speed automatic transmission for easier daily driving in heavy traffic.

The interior features the Granvia’s instrument panel and aftermarket air conditioning, sound system, and custom center console with cup holders and speakers. On the outside CJ installed aftermarket side mirrors, bed cleats, rear-view camera, and a set of Rota 17×9.9-inch wheels.
