When John Cross went looking for a new race car to compete in Retro Rallycross it had to be iconic and mid-engine. He found what he was looking for in a used rally Lancia Stratos. The car came prepped for racing with a full cage, MSA logbooks, and proper certifications. All that was left was to source a powerful powertrain. John turned to five-time MSA British Rallycross Champion Julian Godfrey to build his engine, a turbocharged Volkswagen 12v VR6 which is connected to a Gemini transmission. The car rides on an Öhlins suspension similar to EKS’ World Rallycross Audi S1.
