Jeep Wrangler with a Cummins I4 Drives Underwater

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Fred Williams from Dirt Every Day decided he wanted to recreate a stunt from the 1950s of driving under the water. Fred decided to use his own 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ as the foundation for this stunt. They started by removing everything that could trap the driver inside the Jeep if something went wrong under water such as the roll cage and racing seats. Then they went about installing Cummins ISF 2.8 L inline-four diesel that produces 160 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. On to that they installed a NVG3550 five-speed manual transmission and Atlas transfer case thanks to an Advanced Adapters bellhousing adapter. Then they fabricated a 15-18 foot intake and exhaust snorkel to clear about 12 feet of water.
