Group 5 Inspired BMW E21
Richard Pykett is a personal insurance salesman by day but a race car engineer by night. Out of his garage in Auckland, New Zealand Richard is transforming a BMW E21 into a race car inspired by Faltz Motorsport’s Group 5 BMW E21.
When finished the car will be powered by a built 2.5 L M50 inline-six with forged internals and a dry sump oil system. The engine is expected to produce 600 horsepower thanks to a Steve Murch custom twin scroll Holset HRC35 Pro turbocharger.
The rest of the drivetrain will consist of a TT Industries five-speed sequential transmission with a Tilton triple-plate clutch and Kayne Barrie Motorsport BMW LSD with 3.85 gears.
They body when finished will be hand formed from aluminum and look similar to the Faltz Motorsports E21 in both shape and Jagermeister livery. The only difference will be the front fenders will be wider to clear the 18 inch wheels. It will sit on a custom tube chassis with E38 front and rear subframes.
