Ford Ranger With Supercharged Toyota V8
Travis Doherty’s Ford Ranger desert truck runs a Toyota 1UZ-FE engine from a 1990 Lexus LS400. When Travis needed more power he turned to NS Fabrication. Because of space limitations and low-end torque requirement, they decided to go with a Eaton M122 supercharger from a Shelby GT500. The engine was kept mostly stock except a little valve work and switching to Crower valve springs. The engine is controlled by a MegaSquirt II ECU and runs LQ9 ignition coils and 550cc RX-7 Turbo II injectors. On 10 psi of boost the engine makes 333 horsepower and 338 ft-lb of torque to the wheels. The torque curve stays about 300 ft-lb just after idle all the way to 5,500 rpm.
There is a few more videos of Travis Doherty’s Ranger along with more detailed information on the supercharger installation in the source link below.
