Race Boat With A 1300 Horsepower Rotary Engine
The day after we post about a four-rotor engine powering a RX-7, we come across a race boat being powered by another four-rotor engine. It also happens to be built by the same guys over at Pulse Performance Race Engineering (PPRE).
This Jetsprint boat is being driven/navigated by brothers Peter and Gary Huijs out of New Zealand. The boat is running a turbocharged four-rotor 26B engine running on Methanol. Most of the other boats are powered by some type of V8. There are different classes which limit size and forced induction. Boats with 1,000+ can reach 75 mph from a standstill in under two seconds! So these boats can accelerate like just as good as their race car siblings.
I think this sports needs some more attention in the US. There is plenty of action and the engines are drool worthy.
