2005 Subaru Outback with a Turbo EJ255

2005 Subaru Outback with a turbo EJ255 flat-four

Josh built his 2005 Subaru Outback XT to compete in GRIDLIFE Touring Cup (GLTC). Even though the wagon came with a turbocharged EJ255 flat-four, Josh’s engine builder wanted a clean motor. So Josh pulled the turbo EJ255 flat-four from his 2005 Forester XT. The Forester motor was upgraded with forged rods and pistons, ported heads, upgraded springs, and runs on a Haltech Nexus R3 ECU. It is capable of making 600 hp (441 kW) but makes 258 hp (189 kW). Behind that is a 2007 STI six-speed manual transmission and STI R180 rear diff with a Cusco 1.5 way differential. The wagon rides on a STI front suspension with AP Racing four-piston brakes and Legacy rear suspension with STI brakes. Listen to Josh explain the race car to Larry Chen in the video below.
