Mike Day Races his Porsche 944 with a Turbo Inline-Five at Sandblast Rally

Porsche 944 with a turbo VW 07K inline-five

In 2018 Mike Day from ECS Tuning began building a Porsche 944 for Stage Rally racing. The project involved swapping a turbocharged 2.5 L VW 07K inline-five using a Boost Brothers Garage kit. Mike upgraded the engine with JE forged pistons, IE Tuscan forged rods, valve springs, Cat Cams camshafts, and a S257 turbocharger. The combo was good for 522 hp and 392 lb-ft of torque. Behind the motor is the factory torque tube and five-speed manual transaxle with a welded diff. Earlier this year he competed in the Sandblast Rally in South Carolina with co-driver Kevin Ferraro.
