Wile Motorsport Races Mount Washington in Their B58-Powered BMW E36

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Jake Wile and his 1997 BMW E36 called “Honey Badger” to Mt. Washington Auto Road for the 2026 Paul Giblin Memorial Climb to the Clouds event. The E36 is built by Jake’s company Wile Motorsport with a 3.0 L B58 inline-six from a 2017 BMW 340i. It produces 435 hp (319 kW) and 580 lb-ft (786 Nm) of torque to the wheels. Jakes moved the motor and six-speed manual transmission back 11 inches using custom mounts and recessed firewall. The powertrain change helps the race car weigh 2523 lb (2750 lb w/driver) with a 54/45 bias. Jake finished the event with a 5:56.182 lap taking 3rd place overall and the 4th fastest lap ever.
