Darkside Developments is Swapping a 1.9 TDI into an Audi A2

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Darkside Developments purchased an Audi A2 for a lightweight track project. The car came with a 1.4 L TDI (AMF) inline-three and five-speed manual transmission. The company upgraded the inline-three with a Darkside GT1752 hybrid turbocharger, 1.9 8v TDI PD150 ARL injectors, PD150 head bolts, custom 2.5-inch stainless steel downpipe, and custom intake manifold. Darkside Developments also swapped the five-speed for a 02J six-speed manual transmission upgraded with a Gripper limited-slip differential. The motor produced 180 hp (135 kW) and 270 lb-ft (367 Nm) of torque. Unfortunately while dyno tuning the motor, the engine experienced some issue and blew the head gasket. Instead of rebuilding the engine, the company used the opportunity to swap to a larger 1.9 L TDI inline-four. You can watch the first part of the swap in the video below or the previous upgrades here.
