Mercedes S124 Wagon with a Turbo M113 V8 Makes 804 hp on the Dyno

Published in engineswapdepot.com

JMSpeedshop and their Mercedes S124 (W124 230TE wagon) visited DW TechSolutions for dyno tuning on flex fueling. The wagon is powered by a turbocharged 5.0 L M113 V8 with custom I-beam rods, AMG SL55 Kompressor heads and camshafts, +4 mm exhaust valves, AMG double valve springs, 1100 cc injectors, and Pulsar 7170G (G40-1150) turbocharger. Behind that is a 722.6 five-speed automatic transmission from a E55 AMG W210 and a 210 mm diff from a E420 W210 with a 2.82 ratio. On E10 fuel it made 607 hp (452 kW) and 867 Nm (639 lb-ft). When they switched to E85 fuel, it made 705 hp (518 kW) and 1000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. The motor could make more torque but JMSpeedshop wanted to restrict to 1000 Nm to maintain the drivetrain. During the session DW TechSolutions realized the exhaust side of the turbocharger is maxed. They added more gasoline to create a mixture approximately E40 fuel. On that the motor made 804 hp and 1007 Nm of torque. Watch the dyno session below or watch the project’s build process here.
