
Coyote-Powered 1966 Mustang
Ron Jones Garage built this 1966 Mustang to compete in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge 2021. Under the hood is a 5.2 L Aluminator 5.2 XS V8 motor capable of 580 hp (426 kW) and 445 lb-ft (603 Nm) of torque. The crate motor uses a Shelby GT500 block with Ford Performance forged steel crank, Mahle H-beam rods, and Mahle forged pistons. It is topped by Shelby GT350 ported heads, Cobra Jet intake manifold and throttle body, and Ford Performance M-6550-M52 camshafts. Behind the motor is a T56 six-speed manual transmission and 9-inch independent rear end with 4.56 ratio. The car rides on a Heidts front and rear independent suspension with an EPAS Performance electric steering. The body features steel fender flares, custom valances, shaved fuel filler, and Brittany Blue Metallic paint.
