Twin-Engine Custom Lupo with 3000+ hp

Published in engineswapdepot.com

In 2018 Silviu Ghita from DOP Motorsport set out to build a crazy custom Volkswagen Lupo. The car would use a custom tubular chassis and twin-engine setup. At that time Silviu went with a pair of turbocharged 2.0 L TFSI inline-four motors. Combined they produced 1243 hp (914 kW) and 1256 Nm (926 lb-ft) of torque. In 2019 the twin-engine Lupo went 8.78 sec at 273.46 km/h (169.92 mph) in the quarter-mile. Fast forward several years and Silviu upgraded the powertrain. The car is now running a pair of compound-turbocharged 3.6 L VR6 motors paired to DQ500 seven-speed automatic transmissions. Each motor is capable of 1800 hp (1323 kW) for a combined 3600 hp (2684 kW). However Silviu runs at 2400-3000 hp (1765-2206 kW) depending on track and conditions. The personal best is 7.71 sec at 194 mph.

Silviu explained more details on the unique car to Larry Chen in 2024.
