Chuckles Garage’s Cummins-Powered 4WD 1953 Ford Van
Scott Birdsall enjoys building vehicles at his company Chuckles Garage in California. Some of his projects include a Cummins-powered Ford race truck, 2JZ-powered Toyota race truck, and 2JZ-powered BMW E30. Another project Scott enjoys driving is a 1953 Ford Vanette with a 5.9 L Cummins turbodiesel inline-six. It features a ATS Aurora 4000 turbocharger, Dynomite Diesel STG1 injectors, and MBRP four-inch exhaust. Scott converted the van to 4WD using a NV4500 five-speed manual transmission and divorced NP205 transfer case. Torque is split between a Dana 60 front axle and Corporate 14-bolt rear axle. The van rides on Bilstein remote-reservoir shocks, Ford Super Duty leaf springs, and a set of Toyo Open Country 33-inch tires mounted on ARE Baja wheels. Listen to Scott describe the van to TheDrive in the video below.
