1979 Fairmont with a 4.6 L Modular V8

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Late Model Restoration specializes in 1979-2025 Mustang, Lightning, and Bronco performance parts. In 2009 the company wanted to build something on the Fox platform that was not a Mustang. They settled on a light blue 1979 Ford Fairmont. In the engine bay they swapped a 4.6 L 3v Modular V8 crate motor featuring Ford Racing Hot Rod camshafts, MAC longtube headers, and standalone ECU. The motor made 327 hp and 314 lb-ft of torque to the wheels on the dyno. Behind the V8 is a QuickTime bellhousing bolt to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. The front suspension features a factory lower control arms and UPR coilover kit. On the inside they installed a Mustang LX seat, Corbeau five-point harness, and S&W 8-point roll bar. Read more about the project’s ups and downs in Late Model Restoration’s article.
