1968 Kaiser Jeep M715 with a 5.7L Hemi V8

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Ian Johnson from Big Tire Garage built his 1968 Kaiser Jeep M715 called “Lockjaw” on the show Xtreme Off-Road in 2015. In the engine bay he swapped a 5.7 L Hemi V8 with Gibson exhaust headers. Behind that is a 545RFE five-speed automatic transmission, Offroad Design Magnum box, and NP205 transfer case. JE Reel driveshafts split power between a Dana 60 front axle and 14-bolt rear axle. Both have ARB locking differentials and 5.38 ratios. The truck rides on BDS K5 Blazer lifted leaf-springs and BFGoodrich Red Label Krawlers 39-inch tires mounted on ATX Slab Beadlock 17-inch wheels. Listen to Ian explain the project’s history in the video below.
