1970 Charger Daytona Body on a 2022 Challenger Hellcat Chassis and Powertrain

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Steve Mirabelli spent 18 months and 2300 hours building a custom Charger Daytona replica. The project started with a 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat damaged by a falling tree with 8,700 miles on the odometer. Steve removed the Challenger’s body and installed a 1970 Dodge Charger body. He widened the Charger’s body 3 inches on each side. Steve widened a 1971 Charger hood and installed a SRT scoop. He also fabricated a custom widened Daytona nose and modified the rear aluminum wing. The classic looking car retains the supercharged 6.2 L Hellcat V8 making 707 hp (527 kW) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque, eight-speed automatic transmission, and independent rear suspension, and Brembo brakes. The car’s next step is Chris Carlson Hot Rods in Mulvane, Kansas for bodywork and paint. Listen to Steve explain the work that went into his unique vehicle in the video below.
