VW Golf Mk2 with a 1,100 hp Turbo VR6

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Johannes Schnäckel and his company STT Turbotechnik build powerful VR6 motors. Johannes brought his Volkswagen Golf Mk2 to the L8-Night event in Germany. The car is powered by a turbocharged 2.8 L VR6 with forged internals, 3.2 L head, and a large 8085 turbocharger. The combo produces 1,100 hp (809 kW). Power is sent to all four Hoosier slicks through a Kotouč sequential transmission capable of 40-millisecond flat-shifting and STT Turbotechnik’s billet rear differential and axles. At the event Johannes completed several 9-second quarter-mile passes with the best being 8.984 sec at 256.4 km/h (159.3 mph) (not in video).
