BMW Z3 M with a S65 V8
GermanTech Motorworks is a company in Louisville, Kentucky specializing in BMW, MINI, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, and Porsche repair. John Kephart is part-owner of the company and wanted a special BMW Z3 M Coupe (E36/8). So under the hood they swapped a 4.0 L S54 V8 and six-speed manual transmission from a 2010 BMW M3. The swap uses custom engine and transmission mounts, custom shifter linkage, and unlocked factory ECU. They were able to retain the factory crossmember and exhaust headers. Power is transmitted by a Driveshaft Shop carbon fiber driveshaft to a factory differential. GermanTech Motorworks changed to an E30 differential cover so they could use Garagistic secondary diff support kit. The coupe now produces 361 hp (269 kW) and 257 lb-ft (348 Nm) of torque to the wheels. Listen to John explain the project to MosierWorks in the video below.
