Skinne Beetle with a 1200+ hp 2.8 L Flat-Four

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Tor Oyvind Skinne’s famous Skinne Beetle attended the EU Flat Four Shootout at Malmo Raceway in Sweden. The special Type 1 is powered by a 2.8 L Wasserboxer flat-four. Drag Media UK states the motor is built with a billet crankshaft, forged pistons and rods, and custom 81 mm turbocharger. In 2023 Jonus Racing tuned the engine and made 1288 hp (947 kW) and 1355 Nm (999 lb-ft) of torque. That power is sent to the rear slicks through a Porsche 911 Turbo (964) transaxle. The car’s quarter-mile is a 7.86 sec at 186 mph (299 km/h). Watch Jens Petter Brandstorp pilot the car at an eight-mile event in the video below.
