Land Rover Discovery with a 1,341 HP Supercharged LSx
One of our Facebook friends Tai was nice enough to share two of his projects with us. Both involve installing a lot of V8 power into mid-sized SUVs. The first project involves building a pretty extreme Land Rover Discovery. It was built from the ground up with upgraded Fox shocks, ARB air lockers, custom rear end housing with Dana 60 centers and 10.5 inch axles. All built to handle the huge horsepower and torque coming from the supercharged 427 LSx V8.
The engine block was first honed/squared and then upgraded with Oliver rods, Callies Performance DragonSlayer crank, custom JE pistons, RHS ported aluminum heads, COMP cam, chromoly pushrods, dual keyway crank balancer, and honing plates (torque plates). All this was needed for the 1,000 kW (1,341 hp) power goal with the help of a ProCharger F3R supercharger.
Tai couldn’t just let himself be the only one to enjoy a powerful SUV. So he built a JK Jeep for his wife. The Jeep started life as a red soft top with a 2.8 L diesel inline-four. It now has Bushwacker flares, Fox shocks, 35″ tires, and painted in satin black. Under the hood sits a turbocharged LS3.
