BMW 320i Hill Climber with a 3.5 L Indy V8

Published in engineswapdepot.com

This race car was built by Team Edlinger in Styria, Austria to compete in hill climb racing. The body is based off a BMW 320i E30 which has been customized for weights savings and aerodynamics. The engine is a 3.5 L GM V8 from the Indy Racing League (IRL) which produces 570 horsepower at 11,300 rpm. In the US the engine would run off methanol but under FIA regulation the engine runs on petrol fuel only. To compensate for the fuel change, fuel injection and ignition components along with the electronics to control it were changed by KOPPE Automotive Engineering in Schwanberg, Austria. The transmission is an electro-hydraulically actuated PROST F1 six-speed with variable differential lock system.
