Das Auto ist ein Familienerbstück und geht auf die Insel Elba. Alexander zeigt den Stand bei CGM: leergeräumte Karosserie, 3D-gescannt, und von unten den neuen Rahmen. Der Country war ein Sondermodell auf Syncro-Basis, rund 7.000 Stück gebaut, dieser von 1991 und einer der letzten vom Band. Der Allrad fliegt raus, das Auto wird Fronttriebler — so passt maximal Batterie unter den Wagen, fürs Gelände ist er auf Elba nicht mehr gedacht. Vorn kommt eine Tesla-Model-3-Einheit rein, dazu 16 Porsche-Taycan-Module, acht davon hinten unter dem Fahrzeug. CCS-Schnellladen läuft über die originale Tankklappe. Der spannende Teil liegt unten: Beim Country ist das Differenzial ein tragendes Bauteil des Rahmens. Ohne Diff fehlt Struktur — also haben wir es durch eine eigene Konstruktion aus extrem dickem Stahl ersetzt. Die Antriebswellen hinten sind raus, der Kardanwellentunnel bleibt frei für das Hochvoltkabel. PTC-Heizung statt Wärmetauscher, und eine Klimaanlage kommt — für Elba keine schlechte Idee. Innen bleibt alles original, keine Batterien im Innenraum, nur unser Drehrädchen statt Schaltknauf. Die Entwicklungsarbeit steckt jetzt im Golf-2-Kit: Es passt auch in den normalen Golf 2, erste konkrete Anfragen laufen — Warteliste über den Konfigurator. Alexander shows the state of play at CGM. A Syncro-based special edition, roughly 7,000 built; this one from 1991 is among the last off the line. All-wheel drive comes out, front-wheel drive goes in — maximum battery underneath. Up front a Tesla Model 3 drive unit, plus 16 Porsche Taycan modules, eight of them under the rear. CCS fast charging through the original fuel flap. The catch is underneath: on the Country the differential is structural. We replaced it with our own construction in very thick steel and routed the HV cable through the empty driveshaft tunnel. PTC heater, air conditioning coming, interior fully original. The development work now lives in our Golf 2 kit, which also fits a regular Golf 2 — waiting list via the configurator.
