Renault Prototype H: The Lost French Luxury Sedan with a V8 Engine
Discover the Renault Prototype H, a 4.9-meter RWD luxury sedan developed under "Project H" in 1966 as a joint effort between Renault and Peugeot. Featuring a 3.5L V8 engine by Peugeot, hydropneumatic suspension, built-in hydraulic jacks, and dual-zone climate control, it aimed to replace the Citroën DS and serve the Élysée Palace. Michel Béligond’s fastback design, the only surviving prototype, debuted at Rétromobile 2020. Despite advanced engineering, the project was cancelled in 1967 due to high costs—190 million francs needed beyond the 7.4 million spent. Market doubts and the 1973 oil crisis confirmed the decision. The V8 evolved into the PRV V6, powering Renault 30, Peugeot 604, Volvo 264, and DeLorean DMC-12. A landmark in French automotive history. 00:00 - Intro Retro Car 00:06 - 1968 Renault Prototype H History 04:22 - Outro Retro Car ========================================== Donation for the channel: ✔️ USDT (BEP20) Address: 0x5751211ee751022beba87d1f3826fdf56df3e11a ========================================== 🚗 CUSTOM RETRO CAR Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDGNADPUwDxGXThrwOJuAEVj-b6qt6PNH 🚗 CHEVROLET RETRO CAR Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDGNADPUwDxHeBnxhY0TDAKjIB_NBdAb9 🚗 DODGE RETRO CAR Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDGNADPUwDxFRVJAu7B9CZYlDtrLQ-bm0 🚗 PONTIAC RETRO CAR Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDGNADPUwDxHdeG8NVE_EdDKvpSFywFpH #retrocar #Renault #RenaultPrototypeH #ClassicCars #FrenchCars #ConceptCars #renaultcars #LuxuryCars #AutomotiveHistory #CarEnthusiasts
