Angelica & Keith | La Carrera and a Mini Sprint
Mexican Rally Navigator Angelica Fuentes Garcia and her Husband Keith Mainland consider themselves lucky to the same passion for motorsport. It's what brought them together at the La Carrera Panamericana in Mexico 17 years ago and is what has now manifested itself in their Mini Sprint, which they take on events where they reside in the UK. The Mini Sprint was made famous in the 1960's by Neville Trickett, who chopped 2.5 inches from the windows and 2.5 inches from the bottom, making it 5 inches smaller than a normal Mini. Now in his 80's, Neville is still chopping Minis at his home in France, and although nothing is ever perfect, it's as near perfection as you can probably get. Angelica has participated for more than 20 years in La Carrera Panamericana consistently placing at the top overall. In recent years she has navigated for driver Doug Mockett and his 1950's Oldsmobile. In 2016 she navigated for Gabriel Perez in a Studebaker and looks to return for the 2017 running next fall. Keith an accomplished photographer and automotive historian has published several books, including one on the history of the mini. https://www.amazon.com/Classic-Mini-Specials-Crowood-Autoclassics-ebook/dp/B010KND080 Many thanks to Angelica and Keith for sharing their story!
