For the full story and Kickstarter campaign follow this link: http://kck.st/1hqiWVx Hi, I’m Teague Fleury, founder of Wide Eyed Collective and the creator of Get Lost: To the Darien Gap and Back. Get Lost is a motorcycle adventure series chronicling my journey from a small town in Connecticut to the Darien Gap in Panama…and back again. Over the course of 3 months, I traveled 12,000 miles through 9 countries and crossed 14 international borders all by myself. I filmed the entire adventure and returned home with 65 hours of footage and thousands of photos. But let me start at the beginning... Years ago, I was working as a team leader at Whole Foods Market and very much stuck in my routine, get up, drive to work, work for 8 or 10 hours, drive home, make dinner, go to bed. Rinse and repeat, day after day. I’m sure you can relate to this. Then one day my brother gave me a book entitled Long Way Round and the direction of my life changed in an instant. Long Way Round details the 20,000-mile motorcycle journey taken by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman from London to New York. I knew this was something I needed in my life. I had to experience this for myself. I immediately set to work on turning my burning desire into a reality. I dedicated every minute of my life to this. I bought camera gear, maxed out my credit cards, and bought a Kawasaki KLR650. I read every book about adventure motorcycling that I could get my hands on. Less than a year later, I had quit my job, sold my car and was ready to head out into the unknown. With the support of my girlfriend, and my family, I had made the transition from grocery store manager to budding adventure filmmaker. Now all I had to do was figure out how to get to Panama without any pre-planned route or GPS. I didn’t have any off-road riding experience, or mechanical knowledge of how to fix a motorcycle; I didn’t speak Spanish and certainly had no idea what the hell I was getting myself into. What I experienced over the course of the next 3 months dwarfed even my highest expectations for what real adventure was. I rode through violent thunderstorms in the Midwest, crossed into Mexico without a clue where I was headed, explored Mayan ruins in Honduras and Guatemala, completed my first water crossing, and broke down in the middle of nowhere more times than I can even remember. I managed to capture all of this on film despite the fact that it rained almost every single day. I can’t believe what I accomplished and I’m so excited to finally share my experience with the world.
