The Kestrel - Gone in 50 seconds
The Kestrel is the third in Ian Barry's 'Falcon' series. With the exception of a few critical pieces, namely the tires, crankcases, gearbox, and 10 inches of the original 1970 Triumph Bonneville headstock (which was cut in half and re-engineered), Barry conceptualized, engineered and made every element of the Kestrel from blocks, sheets and rods of steel, brass and aluminum. Short film produced by Amaryllis Knight and shot and directed by Amaryllis Knight & Matt Taylor: Ian's inventions harken to an age when a metal machine, hot and dangerous, meant to be straddled with its mechanicals visible, left a tang in the nose and probably a drop on the ground to remind you that there was in fact something moving around inside which needed air and fuel, but would give its best with careful attention.
