A “CarDesign Party” has taken place in Moscow
On the 3rd of April, Moscow’s Autoville Museum was host to the CarDesign Party - an event organized by Cardesign.ru- Russia’s largest car designer community. Attended by some 200 guests, it welcomed representatives from Moscow’s automobile and tuning studios, product designers, students and graduates of various design schools as well as automotive journalists and photographers.
In addition to pleasant conversation in a surrounding of rare and vintage cars, the guests were given presentations by people successfully working in the field of automotive design in Russia. The evening opened with welcoming words from Sergey Rykov, head of Children’s Car Design Centre at Autoville, followed by a presentation from Yaroslav Rassadin (chief designer, Marussia Motors), who spoke about his team’s typical working day, and got everyone surprised by giving a peek at their updated version of the B2 coupe on the projector. Oleg Yegorov’s and Sergey Alyshev’s (bosses at TopCar and Cardi respectively) presentation was devoted to a joint tuning project, which has gained recognition both in Russia and abroad. Gennadiy Tishkin (R.A.D.) presented an elegant looking coupe built on the Porsche Cayenne platform. Zaur Khalilov (E’Go Motors) spoke about the ambitious Revolt project, Vadim Shustrov (Pegas Cars) - about a number of interesting developments at once. The renowned Vladimir Pirozhkov (AstraRossa) tried to captivate the youth onto the idea of a radically new transportation system. Also at the event, a new edition of Ivan Panderin’s book, the “21″, was presented, supplemented by many little-known details and illustrations.
Thanks to support from Wacom, a “Sketch Fighter” design contest was held during the event, for the first time in off-line mode. The participants were asked to draw their vision of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL for the year 2100, on paper or using Intuos4 and Bamboo Fun Pen & Touch graphics tablets. And the winners of the online “Sketch Fighter 2009″ - Dmitri Krylov (”Stroganovka”), Sergei Konkov (” Polytech”), Pavel Zayats (amateur) received their well-deserved awards, in form of cups and medals to the big applause of the audience.
CarDesign Party was the first Russian designer meeting organized by the Cardesign.ru(http://www.cardesign.ru) web portal, but is planned to be held regularly, no less than once a year.
