1967 Kaiser Jeep M715 with a 6.4L Hemi V8

1967 Kaiser Jeep M715 with a 6.4L Hemi V8

Kaiser Jeep built this 1967 M715 aka “Five Quarter” as an American light military truck based on the civilian Jeep Gladiator (SJ). Blacksmith Garage completely overhauled the truck using modern power and performance.

In the engine bay Blacksmith Garage swapped a 6.4 L Hemi V8 crate motor capable of 485 hp (356 kW) and 472 lb-ft (639 Nm) of torque. Exhaust is routed through Kooks headers and custom 3-inch stainless steel tubing. The V8 is paired to a 545-RFE five-speed automatic transmission and Atlas transfer case. A set of NEAPCO driveshafts transmit torque to Dana 60 axles in front and rear with 5.38 ratios and electric locking differential.

Blacksmith Garage retained the factory chassis but reinforced it to handle their custom coilover 3-link front suspension and 4-link rear suspension. There are Fox 2.5 coilovers and disc brakes on each corner. At the end of the axles are KMC XD 136 Panzer 20-inch wheels with Maxxis Razr MT 40×13.5-inch tires.

On top of the reinforced chassis is a media blasted body covered in PPG Envirobase GSA (USA military 221) Gray paint. Blacksmith Garage designed black bumpers, LED lights, red 5-gallon Jerry cans, and custom vinyl decals complete the exterior look.

Inside the cabin Blacksmith Garage turned to Upholstery Unlimited for a custom leather bench seat, dashboard, and shift boot. A Momo steering wheel mounts on a Ididit tilt steering column. Other changes include Classis Instrument gauges, Carling rocker switches, and Vintage Air AC system. You can view more photos and specs on Blacksmith Garage’s project page.
