VW Golf Race Car with a 500 hp 1.8T

VW Golf with a turbo 1.8 L VW inline-four

Herbert Perwein races European hill climb in a Volkswagen Golf Mk1. The race car is powered by a turbocharged 1.8 L VW 20v (AGU) inline-four. HillClimb Monsters reports the motor is producing 500 hp (367 kW) and 530 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to all four tires through a sequential transmission and 4WD drivetrain. The 950 kg (2094 lb) race car also benefits from the TracTive Track Line semi-active ACE coilovers. The video below shows Herbert pushing the Golf to the limits at Rechberg Hill Climb in Austria.
