Vermont SportsCar’s 2011 Subaru WRX
Vermont SportsCar (VSC) built this Subaru WRX “VT11X” in 2011 for American Global Rallycross (RX) series. The car competed until 2015 and then received a rebuild in 2017.
The car is powered by a Vermont SportsCar 2015 RX motorsport engine. The turbocharged 2.0 L flat-four features a Cosworth intake manifold, PWR front-mounted intercooler, Auto-Verdi dry sump, and Inconel exhaust manifold. Boost is generated by a Precision “WRC 5358” turbocharger with a 45 mm restrictor and Tibuc anti-lag system.
Fuel is kept in a custom 20-liter ATL cell and transmitted by four lift pumps and two Bosch 044 main pumps through Injector Dynamics ID2000 injectors. Everything is controlled by a Cosworth Pectel SQ6 ECU and PRS custom wiring harness.
Vermont SportsCar paired the motor to a drivetrain consisting of a Sadev SL90 six-speed sequential transmission, Sadev center release unit, and Sadev rear differential. The drivetrain uses a Tilton custom-weighted flywheel and Tilton 7.5-inch triple-disc carbon clutch.
The car’s suspension uses tubular crossmembers, Reiger VSC-spec shocks on raised mounts (turrets), WRC fabricated HSS front uprights, billet aluminum Tibuc rear uprights, and Aurora bearing joints. Steering is handled by a STI hydraulic steering rack with a 1.5:1 quickener. Braking is handled by AP Racing six-piston calipers with 355 mm 2-piece floating rotors in front. In back is AP Racing four-piston calipers with 330 mm 2-piece floating rotors.
The body is a 2008-2014 Subaru WRX STI shell with a Twintex’s front bumper, widebody fenders, and side stills. VSC reduced weight with lightened front doors, carbon-kevlar rear door skins, carbon-kevlar over quarters, and P4P 5 mm polycarbonate windows. Under the arches are KMC Racing VSC-spec 17-inch wheels.
The race car interior starts with a FIA-spec roll cage and Spa Firesense fire suppression system. The driver controls the car through a Reverie 330 Carbon steering wheel, Tilton pedal box with AP cylinders, and MAC boost control system. Data is displayed on a GEMS CD25 screen and Sadev gear indicator.
