UNBROKEN PORSCHE: My Garage-Built 3.2L Twin-Plug 1978 Porsche 911SC Hot Rod | EP47

I bought a broken Porsche 911SC and rebuilt it into a twin-plug, carbureted hot rod in our garage. For the first time on the show, I’m featuring my own 1978 air-cooled Porsche, built and driven with my husband Frank Johnson. With its short-stroke 3.2L engine, close-ratio 915 gearbox, and notably absent air conditioning, we road-tripped our classic 911 across the country to Luftgekühlt 11. Along the way, Frank managed a race team while building a diverse skill set as a general contractor, welder, and gunsmith—experience that shows up in everything he builds. I often joke, “Everybody needs a Frank,” a nod to both his good looks and his ability to fix or build just about anything. Today, Frank focuses on specialty air-cooled Porsche engine work, including machining and custom engine builds for clients.
