Ferrari 365 GT4 BB Through the Redwoods: Forest Run

Published in Video

A Ferrari 365 GT4 BB rips through a forest road, with no dialogue or narration to get in the way. Just five liters of mid-engine flat-twelve and a canopy of trees. The Berlinetta Boxer is one of the rarer sounds in motoring. Most Ferrari twelves are V-shaped and sit up front. The BB's flat-twelve sits low behind the cabin instead, in a layout almost nobody else used in a production road car. The layout came from Ferrari's Formula 1 program, which won championships with flat-twelves through the 1970s. Nearly five liters and twelve cylinders splayed 180 degrees, with the engine stacked on top of the transaxle to keep the wheelbase short. Pininfarina styled the body around the entire engine. Ferrari built it from the late 1970s through the early 1980s, and nothing like it has been built ever again.
