Restored Porsche vs. Survivor VW: Which Wins?
We're back in Solvang for Part 2, and this time we're finding some incredible Porsches, survivor Volkswagens, and the stories behind them. First, I meet Ron and his gorgeous Ruby Red Porsche 356. Ron has been into Porsches for more than 50 years, but one of my favorite stories has nothing to do with a Porsche: he once bought a 1955 VW Beetle for $200 and sold it the next day for $400 so he could make his house payment! Then we find Mike and a stunning 1957 Porsche 356 that has been 10 years in the making. The car was taken all the way down to bare metal and brought back piece by piece. It now has a 912 engine, Speedster seats, a beautiful leather interior and some subtle modern touches while still keeping that classic look. And then we go in a completely different direction with Chumo's incredible 1957 VW survivor convertible. Patina, whitewalls, vintage accessories, a 36-horsepower engine and tons of personality — and he actually drives it! So now I have to ask: Do you like them SWEATY or SHINY? Would you rather have the perfectly restored Porsche or the beautifully worn VW survivor? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for watching, liking, subscribing and sharing Bug Hugs.
