The Craziest VW Barn Find?! Taxi MK1 Prototype

While at Waterfest 25 in Atco NJ, we spotted something at Jamie Orr's Booth that was odd. At first it looked like a regular MK1 Rabbit. but as we got close we quickly realized it was something much different. Turned out Jamie had just completed a 24 hour road trip to go pull this piece of history out a warehouse where it had set for the last 30 years. He explained how it was prototype from a collaboration from Checker Motors and Volkswagen to make a Taxi for consumers in the USA. The car turned out to be non viable and the prototype was lost for years. The only extended MK1 swallow tail ever made. 1 of 1. In Jamie's hands this car will be brought back to its former glory!
