The Jaguar E-Type Anniversary Tour -- 28th February 2011 www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk On Monday the 28th of February, Jaguar E-Type owners visited the Castle Combe Circuit as part of a celebration of the car’s 50th anniversary. The BBC’s Formula 1 commentator, Martin Brundle, was a particiapant in the E-Type Tour from Coventry to Geneva, a journey not dissimilar to that which he took with his fellow F1 presenter, Jake Humphrey, to the Belgian Grand Prix, last year. With 2011 being the 50th anniversary of the birth of one of the most iconic sports cars of all time, the tour was one of a number of celebrations being organized. A significant part of the E-Types competition history were the 50 outright race wins at Castle Combe since 1962, the first by Ken Baker in a roadster at the July opening meeting of that year and the latest by Chris Scragg in 2008. After starting from the Jaguar Heritage Centre in Coventry, the cars headed to Castle Combe, where they completed a parade lap. After lunch, they continued their journey to Geneva, taking in other significant venues which have played an important part in the cars’ unique history.
