1988 Mustang with a Turbo 2.0 L EcoBoost
Dalton Stroup at Stroup Performance purchased a 1988 Mustang LX in 2022 with a stroked 2.5 L Lima inline-four. Soon afterwards he pulled the Lima and swapped a turbocharged 2.0 L EcoBoost inline-four from a 2015 Ford Escape. The motor sits on Stroup Performance mounts and AJE tubular K-member. The EcoBoost features a stock longblock with a Mustang intake manifold, BNR Garrett GTX3071 turbocharger, upgraded injectors, and JEM Sport wiring harness and ECU. The combo is good for 425 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque on E85 fuel. Behind the motor is an Essling Racing adapter bolted to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission which sends power to a 8.8-inch rear end. The Mustang rides on SVE coilovers, Eibach sway bars, SN95 spindles, and American Racing Groove 18×10-inch wheels. Listen to Dalton explain the Mustang during a drive with David Patterson.
