RideTech’s 800 hp Fox Body Mustang
RideTech built this 1985 Mustang to showcase their suspension parts on the track. The white hatchback is powered by a 358 ci Roush Yates RY45 V8 built by SPEC Racing Engines. It features Engler stack injection, Ultimate headers, dry sump, and Haltech Nexus R5 ECU. The motor’s 800 hp is sent through a Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission and one-piece steel driveshaft to a S550 diff with a 3.55 ratio. The Mustang’s handling is improved thanks to RideTech’s SLA double-wishbone front suspension, adjustable coilovers, and soon-to-be-released independent rear suspension. The brakes comprise of Wilwood AERO series six-piston calipers with 14-inch rotors in front and four-piston calipers with 14-inch rotors in back. Those are covered by Forgeline Monoblock GS1R 18×10-inch wheels and Kumho V730 Ecsta tires (275/35). The interior features Sparco EVO seats, Sparco harnesses, S550 drive-by-wire accelerator pedal, Wilwood pedal box, and FIA-certified six-point roll cage. RideTech dropped some weight using fiberglass fenders, doors, and rear hatch. Read more about the car in RideTech’s part 1 article and part 2 article.
